Core engineering and protocols for Homomorphic Neural Decoding.
Translating multi-channel neural spikes into complex robotic arm movements, speech synthesis, or computer cursor navigation requires massive deep learning models (transformers, recurrent neural networks) that cannot run within the power budget of an implant. Sending unencrypted brain waves to commercial cloud servers, however, violates patient privacy.
BCIVault implements the CKKS homomorphic encryption scheme. The implant encrypts neural feature vectors; the cloud server executes matrix multiplications and non-linear polynomial activations over the ciphertext, outputting an encrypted vector of joint angles. Only the patient's local prosthetic device holds the private key to decrypt the motor command.
